SOLOISTS
WORKING WITH ST GILES ORCHESTRA
We draw soloists from a wide range of players and singers, from local amateurs to music students and established professionals. As well as inviting back soloists who have performed with us before, we also provide career-launching opportunities for music college students and aspiring professionals. Previous soloists have included several finalists in the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition, including Ursula Smith (cello), Neil Farrow, (oboe), and Katharine O'Kane (cello). Jonathan Barrett, who played regularly with us when young, including Mozart's 4th Horn Concerto as soloist, went on to become Principal Horn with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and BBC National Orchestra of Wales. SGO is fortunate to have performed several times with the world-renowned guitarist Raymond Burley, international violin virtuoso Irmina Trynkos, and USA-based soprano Yukiko Ishida.
Please note that we plan our future programmes well in advance, and therefore solo opportunities may not be available until the following year.
