Gabriele Damiani
Gabriele Damiani studied organ performance and conducting at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. He came to the UK, having been a pupil at the Verdi Conservatoire in Turin. Gabriele graduated with honours and became an Associate of the Royal College of Organists. He worked in London in the early 2000s and his experience included conducting the Choirs of the Royal Hospital Chapel, Chelsea and Westminster Cathedral.
Later, as Chapel Organist of St Edward’s School, Oxford,
Gabriele continued to further his interest in the symphonic repertoire, regularly conducting the student symphony orchestra as well as developing and training many other school ensembles.
In March 2013 he was one of the winners of the “Maestro” conducting masterclass within the Abingdon Music Festival. This enabled him to start a rewarding collaboration with the St Giles Orchestra which, since 2017, has invited him again as a guest conductor and rehearsal assistant.
Since January 2023, Gabriele works principally as Director of Music at Our Lady’s School in Abingdon where he has started several choral and orchestral ensembles and directs the school’s musical productions.
Outside of school, he is a regular visiting tutor at the University of St Andrews and continues to perform, both as organist and conductor, across the UK and abroad.
