Gabriele Damiani is an Italian conductor and organist trained at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, having previously studied at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatoire in Turin. He graduated with honours and later became an Associate of the Royal College of Organists. Since settling in the UK, he has built a career centred on the orchestral and choral repertoires, alongside continued work as a sought-after organist and accompanist.
In the early 2000s, while based in London, he gained significant conducting experience with the Choirs of the Royal Hospital Chapel, Chelsea, and Westminster Cathedral. He subsequently served as Chapel Organist at St Edward’s School, Oxford, where he further expanded his symphonic work, regularly conducting the student symphony orchestra and shaping a wide range of ensembles through focused rehearsal technique and long-term musical training.
In March 2013, Gabriele was a prize-winner at the Maestro Conducting Masterclass at the Abingdon Music Festival, an achievement that initiated an enduring artistic partnership with the St Giles Orchestra. Since 2017, the orchestra has continued to invite him as guest conductor and rehearsal assistant, with further collaborations planned for 2026 and beyond.
Most recently, Gabs served as Director of Music at Our Lady’s School, Abingdon, where he founded and developed multiple choral and orchestral ensembles and directed the school’s musical productions. During his tenure, he successfully established a thriving and sustainable musical culture from the ground up.
He continues to work widely as a conductor and organist across the UK and internationally.
