Soloists

Working with St Giles Orchestra

We draw soloists from a wide range of players and singers, from local amateurs to music students and established professionals. As well as inviting back soloists who have performed with us before, we also provide career-launching opportunities for music college students and aspiring professionals. Previous soloists have included several finalists in the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition, including Ursula Smith, cello, Neil Farrow, oboe, and Katharine Wood, cello. Jonathan Barrett, who played regularly with us when young, including Mozart's 4th Horn Concerto as soloist, went on to become Principal Horn with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and BBC National Orchestra of Wales. SGO is fortunate to have performed several times with the world-renowned guitarist Raymond Burley.

Please note that we plan our programmes several years in advance, and so solo opportunites are not often available in the short term. However, plans can change, so don't let this deter you from contacting us.
